Yes, Survey Junkie is one of the legit survey sites that pays cash. It’s not a scam, it won’t steal your data, and it actually pays. The website says millions of people have shared their opinions through Survey Junkie in exchange for rewards.

How Does Survey Junkie Work?

Survey Junkie connects consumers to brands that are looking for their insights. 

When you join the community, you’ll gain access to surveys, which range in time commitment and pay. You’ll fill out a general profile, and that information is used to match you with surveys. Some brands, for example, might only be interested in gathering insights from car owners. Others might only want to hear from folks living in certain regions.

In addition to surveys, you can also make money through Survey Junkie’s Surf to Earn program. When you opt in to Surf to Earn (via desktop or mobile), you agree to share information about your online searches, site visits, app usage, shopping activity and ad views.

Survey Junkie assures users that data is collected in a privacy-compliant way, and passwords, payment methods and Social Security numbers are never shared.

Sign-up Process and Eligibility

To join Survey Junkie, you must:

With Survey Junkie, you can earn points by taking surveys and sharing your internet browsing habits. Examples of real survey opportunities include:

• 45 points for a 13-minute survey
• 35 points for a 15-minute survey

These surveys update each time you visit the page.

Each survey shows how many points you can earn per minute. The highest available when we checked was 11 points per minute, but the majority of surveys netted out around 2 to 3 points per minute. (After answering a few preliminary questions, we did not qualify for the highest earning opportunity.)

Disqualifications happen even on the best survey sites. (See more in “Survey Junkie Cons” below.) Survey Junkie explains that users can get disqualified during pre-screening questions if they don’t meet participation criteria. 

The site says your answers are not saved if you get disqualified, and you’ll still get rewarded a few points for your efforts (though we did not receive any consolation points when we got disqualified).

You’ll get more opportunities to earn points when you sign up for Surf to Earn. The listed benefits include:

• Bank transfer (up to 5 business days to process).

Survey Junkie Pros: What Users Like

Because Survey Junkie only offers surveys, it’s extremely straightforward to navigate. After you create an account, you’ll see surveys you can take. Each survey lists how many points you can earn, how long it’ll take and the estimated points per minute rate. We found the estimated time to be fairly accurate. 

Although Survey Junkie operates in points, if you head to the Rewards section, you can toggle to USD, making it easier to calculate your real earnings. For example, we earned 75 points—or $0.75.

Some of these sites have progress bars—which make it easier to track how much longer the survey will take—while others don’t. Some feel more spammy than others. Some seem to send you in a loop.

Some will also ask you the same questions multiple times before you get disqualified or screened out. This can be frustrating and is a common Survey Junkie complaint. Disqualifications happen when your profile doesn’t match the group a brand needs or the survey fills up. It’s frustrating, but it’s normal across survey sites.

Another downside is that surveys are the only way to earn on Survey Junkie. These can quickly become tiring if you’re not in the mood to click through questions!

3. Toluna

To make money through Toluna, you can take surveys and play games (though Toluna primarily focuses on surveys). You can get 500 points when you sign up, then the site says you can get paid anywhere between 15 and 500,000 points per survey.

These points can be redeemed for gift cards or cash. Currently, 3,000 points equate to $1. It’s unclear how many points you need to cashout, and heads up: Points are only valid for 12 months, so don’t let them expire! 

Note it can also take up to three weeks to receive your rewards, so if you need cash fast, find another option.
